What is the Difference Between PAS 24 Certified and PAS 24 Compliant?

After passing the necessary security tests and undergoing formal testing by an authorised testing organisation, a product is certified PAS 24. Official certification attests to the product's compliance with PAS 24. Conversely, a product that is PAS 24 compliant may not have undergone official testing or certification, but it is made to satisfy the PAS 24 security requirements. In the UK, PAS 24 is frequently required in certain circumstances but is not legally required for all doors. Many insurance companies need PAS 24-compliant devices, and local authorities or planners may mandate it as part of crime prevention campaigns in specific neighbourhoods, even if it is not a requirement for every door. It focuses primarily on how well a product can resist physical attacks using common tools. Secured by Design is a wider initiative led by the UK Police that promotes crime prevention through the design and construction of buildings. While SBD requires PAS 24 for doors and windows, it also covers broader security measures, including lighting, fencing, and surveillance, to reduce crime risks in a property.
